Monmouth u3a Scratch Band group has led to not one but TWO established bands so far: ‘2Rivers Jazz (see Music: 2RiversJazz – Monmouth u3a) and ‘U3’ (see u3 rock band – Monmouth u3a) … with others currently evolving!
2RiversJazz’ musical interests focus on the Great American Songbook. The group meets fortnightly with the intention of playing for enjoyment and, occasionally, performing at u3a Social Events and other venues around Monmouth. Music: 2RiversJazz – Monmouth u3a
The music of U3 stems from the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s: decades of unparalleled evolution in popular music, with artists like Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and, yes, the Sex Pistols reforming the musical landscape in a way that inspired many a wannabe to pick up a guitar or get some drums. We are doing, so why not join the u3a Scratch Band group and dust off that guitar, sax, bass, Hammond, etc. … and get in touch? We can’t promise to put together your ideal ensemble straight away, but we will do our best to get you involved in making some music … and the more members the group has the more musical connections we will make.
