Our Astronomy Group aims to share the knowledge of our more experienced members with those who are keen to find out more about the universe and the part we can observe. We also invite external speakers to talk about their field of expertise.

We meet at 2.30 pm on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. There is an annual subscription of £10 to cover room hire and other incidental expenses, or you can attend an individual meeting on payment of £2.50. Please contact the Convenor for more information.

Our current venue for meetings is now Monmouth Priory (Main Hall).

On Wednesday 12th August, over 100 u3a members were able to enjoy safely viewing the Solar Eclipse thanks to Dr Keith Moseley and friends bringing along a variety of telescopes, a large television screen, and solar viewing glasses for everyone. The image on this page was obtained by Keith. Thanks are also due to Haberdashers Monmouth Schools for allowing us to use their Sports Ground and Pavilion so that we had a centrally located wide open space with parking.
