Ursula, from Taiko Wales, will talk about the history and cultural significance of Taiko drums in Japan, how it became a performance art in the 1950s and how it then spread across the world.
She will then describe her own path into it and how this has had an impact on her life. This will lead on to describing how she now uses Taiko for the benefit of other people, with some examples of projects she’s been involved with, for example, an NHS arts in health project in 2023 and 2024.
Ursula will do a short demonstration and perhaps ask for some volunteers to help with that!
Free to all Monmouth u3a members.
Come alone or bring a friend, stay for a chat over tea and biscuits afterwards.
