Our pagan past, with its mysterious monuments, atmospheric sites, enigmatic artifacts, bloodthirsty legends, and cryptic inscriptions, is both enthralling and perplexing. Who were these ancient pagans and what were they practicing in Monmouthshire?
All proceeds go towards the Lower Wye Valley Building Preservation Trust’s purchase and consolidation of St Mary’s, a seriously at risk, scheduled monument and Grade II listed landmark ruin that is in an ecclesiastical grouping with, and overlooks, Tintern Abbey.
Ronald Hutton is an engaging and acclaimed broadcaster, author and academic. He has written twenty books, ninety-six essays and sits on the editorial boards of six journals concerned with the history of religion and magic. As Professor of History at Bristol University he has won several awards for teaching and research.
