Our trip visited the coastline running from Penarth pier along to Lavernock Point, and was led by Steve Howe from the South Wales branch of the Geological Association. Steve was a great guide whose career was in the geology section of the National Museum in Cardiff.
From the write-up:
Approaching Lavernock Point. St. Mary’s Well Bay Formation of the early Jurassic. In the fallen blocks here 40% of the skeleton of a Neotheropod Dinosaur was found in 2014. One of the oldest theropods found in Wales and one of the most complete in the Lower Jurassic in Europe.
