Art Session in the Nelson Garden, Monmouth
Saturday July 12th, 10.00am – 4.00pm
Susan Amos will be running an art session at the Nelson Garden to mark 250 years since JMW Turner’s birth in April 1775. Susan will be talking about the nation’s favourite Turner paintings and the connections with Lord Nelson. Turner’s colour palette will be discussed and you will hear how the artist Olafur Eliasson recently produced roundels based on Turner’s colours and techniques. These were on display at Tate Modern and other significant national galleries.
Participants will be able to make a roundel based on one of Turner’s paintings.
Some basic materials will be supplied. No session fee but a small donation to the Nelson Garden charity would be appreciated.
Bring a hat and a bottle of water if it is a hot day.
Participants may also bring their own favourite personal materials, paper, brushes and watercolours.
Susan Amos trained at the London College of Printing and North East London Polytechnic. She worked under the guidance of artists and illustrators Renate Mayer and Charles Keeping for sixteen years. Susan started her own art group in Chepstow in 2011 and has maintained twenty members over three weekly sessions since then. For more information please contact Susan Amos on ngpt1802@yahoo.co.uk
