Charles Boase, Chairman of the Monmouth Field and History Society invites u3a members to the excavation of the Buckholt Iron Age Fort. He says:

The excavation of the Iron Age fort in the Buckholt is at a very interesting stage. The lead archaeologist, Katie Churchill (a member of our Society), has invited us (and Chepstow Archaeological Society) to join a tour of the dig on Sunday 9 June. Please meet at 11am at Welsh Newton Village Hall, if you would like to come.

There’s a community archaeology dig at the Buckholt from next Wednesday (5 June) to Sunday (9 June). Cadw has granted permission for three large trenches in the Iron Age Enclosure and one on the 18th century cottage.
