An entertaining look at British music hall, a cultural phenomenon that was something completely different and quickly captured the attention of audiences up and down the country. As the alcohol flowed, people were able to kick back and relax as they enjoyed the music and acts that were on offer. It made superstars of ‘ordinary’ people and left a legacy of some of the most beautiful theatres to found anywhere in the world. Beginning around 1850, it remained popular until the end of the First World War, when the genre declined and variety became the new entertainment of the masses.
