10th September – Birmingham’s Erratic Boulders: born by Fire delivered by Ice – with Julie and John Schroder 

Glacial erratic boulders once littered the countryside around Birmingham and the West Midlands. From their deep time volcanic origins, through their Ice Age journey from Wales, to their exalted status in the history of glaciology and the hand of local people in their ultimate fate, this talk will explore the extraordinary story of Birmingham’s glacial boulders and the questions which still remain from the time when the Midlands lay within an icy desert.
