An Introduction to Astronomical Galaxies
Steve Foulkes & Martin Stubbs

In this talk Dr Stephen B Foulkes and Martin Stubbs will describe the morphology of galaxies as classification by galaxy visual appearance.

They will explore the Milky Way galaxy, its structure, how it was formed and the likely future of our galaxy. Simulations of galaxy construction and mergers will be demonstrated. They will also talk about how the universe evolved after its formation (known as the Big Bang).

Finally, they will present a number of galaxy images obtained from their home telescope observatories.

The talk is free for members who have an annual subscription to the Astronomy Group in force. Any other u3a members are welcome to attend at a cost of £2.50 towards venue hire.
