Witchcraft and Magic – a talk by David Evans

From the earliest cave dwellers to the present day, witchcraft and magic have impacted society. It’s a subject that can scare, fascinate, and enlighten in equal measure; it occasionally shapes nightmares and frequently invites curiosity.

The talk is light (and won’t invoke nightmares) but is based on a good many years of personal research, and reading on everything from ‘sympathetic magic’ to hysteria, and the persecution of many poor innocents whose only crime was the practice of what today we know as homeopathy. It may also include a smattering of references to local folklore.

This event is free to all U3A members. There is no need to book a place, just turn up on the day.
