Julie has organised a canoe trip down the river Wye. She says “This is a specially discounted day trip to canoe (with instructor) down the River Wye from Monmouth to Whitebrook. There will be a lunch stop at The Boat Inn, Redbrook. 

Date: Wednesday 24th September

Time: Arrive at Monmouth Canoe Centre, Castle Yard, Old Dixton Road by 10 am for departure at 10.30 am

Lunch stop: (to be a group pre-order) middayish. Not included in price

Pick up and transportation back to Monmouth from Whitebrook

Group size with instructor: 15 to 18 people with 2 to 3 per canoe (6 canoes) 

Cost approx. is £30 plus approx £8 per person for the instructor”

Update:

With these numbers we will use 6 canoes and will have an instructor who is provided through Monmouth Canoes.

I have advised The Boat Inn that we would like to eat there around midday as it is a good half way spot to stop for a rest and refreshments. Nearer the time they will provide a menu so that we can pre-order our lunches.

They are based at – Castle Yard, Old Dixton Rd. Monmouth – if you prefer to call in.

You will receive by email an information sheet direct from them.

If you need to cancel, due to ill health, or if you give 48 hours notice to cancel you will get a refund.

On the day we will need cash to pay Nigel, our guide/instructor. Depending on our final numbers the cash amount per person will be approx. £8. I will let you know nearer the time.

Monmouth Canoe Centre monitor river levels continuously and will know in advance if water conditions are unsuitable. It is up to us to wear appropriate weather gear on the day!
