The French Improvers group use an external tutor who has lived and worked in France for many years. We start each class with some conversation which could range from what we have been doing during the previous week to topical news items. Conversations around the life and culture of France are also popular. We then spend a little time reading/translating from a French text. We have used a wide variety of sources for texts and are currently reading “Lettres de mon moulin”, a series of short stories about the author’s life in the French countryside. Other texts used in the past include “Le Petit Prince”, “Le Petit Nicolas” and “Un Secret”.
Do you have a little knowledge of French but wish that you could speak it better, then why not join us?
We currently have one vacancy. If you would like to find out more about the group please contact the Convenor. Please note that there is a charge to cover the tutor’s fee, although the first lesson is always a “free taster”.
